Can you tell us about your background and what led you to start SHEE?
My journey is probably very different than many others in this industry. My love for events started in college. As a member of the Executive Board for the Black Solidarity Conference at Yale, I was a part of creating an annual conference for more than 500 students. The Black Solidarity Conference at Yale is a completely student-run annual conference usually held the first weekend of February to kick off Black History Month. BSC is the largest undergraduate conference held at Yale University. BSC typically invites over 500 undergraduates of various races, religions, ethnicities, and communities to discuss issues pertaining to the African Diaspora.. During this time I worked with an amazing team to coordinate panels, keynotes, concerts, and galas.
Since then, I've had the honor of working primarily in the nonprofit space.. I've had the chance to plan several large scale fundraising events. Because of my attention to detail, meticulous planning, and beautiful design aesthetic, several close friends and acquaintances asked me to step in to plan, design, and coordinate life events from weddings, to showers, to birthday parties.
Now, seemed like a prime time to offer those same services and care to clients and community.

How do you stay updated with the latest trends and innovations in event planning?
I combine several strategies to ensure I'm up to date on what's new in our industry. . I leverage social media as a valuable source of real-time updates, insights, and inspiration from professionals in the field. I regularly participate in industry events, trade shows, and conferences to network, learn new strategies, and share ideas. I push for innovation within my own event planning process. by experimenting with new ideas, technologies, and approaches to event design and execution. By staying curious and open to new possibilities, I work to discover innovative solutions that set SHEE events apart.
What advice would you give to someone looking to hire an event planning company for their special occasion?
Before reaching out to event planners, take the time to clearly define your vision for the event. Consider your goals, theme, budget, and any specific preferences you have. Having a clear vision will help you communicate effectively with potential planners and ensure they understand your expectations. Choose an event planner who values open communication and collaboration. You should feel comfortable discussing your ideas, asking questions, and providing feedback throughout the planning process. Look for planners who are responsive, proactive, and attentive to your needs.
